A New Momentum for the Bicycle

The Eurobike is coming to Frankfurt! From 2022, the (trade show) center of the bicycle world will be located on the banks of the Main River and no longer on the shores of Lake Constance. This has been decided by the Friedrichshafen and Frankfurt trade fair companies and a joint venture has been established. Already celebrated as a major blow in initial reactions in the media, this absolutely surprising decision is a cause for great joy for us.

The Eurobike seemed to be inextricably linked with the Friedrichshafen location. However, it had recently come under pressure there. The key words here are a lack of space, strategic decisions that were not always entirely fortunate, and the lure of the IAA, which had moved to Munich, in the direction of the bicycle industry. In this respect, the Eurobike’s move from Lake Constance to the Main is much more than a liberating strike; in the traditional car city of Frankfurt, it is an enormous sign “pro bicycle”!

The plans that have become known so far for the cooperation with the Frankfurt trade show company clearly show that two players are joining forces who are ready to put together a virtually unique overall package with their respective competencies. On the one hand, Eurobike as the absolute benchmark in the bicycle trade show sector, including its traditionally strong networking in the large cycling family. On the other hand, Messe Frankfurt as one of the world’s largest trade show organizers. With its international appeal and location at Germany’s most international transportation hub, it will give the topic of bicycles a completely new impetus.

The combination of these two partners and their urban concept are symbolic of the mobility development of recent years: the bicycle is conquering the city! It would be hard to make the new role of the bicycle as a means of transport in urban areas more visible than in Frankfurt. We would also like to congratulate the Eurobike, which started out as a mountain biking event, on this readjustment. Of course, this is also in light of the fact that our vehicles are increasingly conquering the metropolitan area and are now being shown to their best advantage in a completely different way in the new trade fair environment: Comfortable commuter vehicles and vehicles for people with disabilities are forward-looking mobility solutions both in the business sector and for nature-based, health-oriented leisure activities in the region.

And finally, we are also a little bit pleased for local patriotic reasons: Since its founding in 1993, HP Velotechnik has been headquartered in Kriftel on the city limits of Frankfurt – welcome Eurobike!
