Agence Future Logo 4.7: Beirut

bunker

During our stay in Damascus, we took the opportunity to travel to Lebanon with a 48-hour visa acquired at the border for free. It was Philippe who convinced us to go. The night before we left we had gone to a Damscene Disco with him and our break dancing friends. It was a drole experience to go dancing in a country where much modern Western music is considered subversive.

In Beirut the hard techno we danced to and the mini-skirts of the girls on the street made us wonder about how big small differences can be.

During our short stay in the Lebanon our attention was drawn to more profound differences with its big brother Syria. In adition, the visual remnants of the civil war in Beirut are teribly impresive. This stimulated us to learn more about the divisions within Lebanon as well as its historical position in the region. We resolved to return here on a seperate occasion.
