Type-II suspension system
(Attention: The information given on this page has been outdated.)
Our suspension forks take advantage of the Type-II suspension system. The leg contains an optimized combination of steel coil spring and MCU elastomer. Thanks to the steel springs, suspension activates easily even with small unevenness whereas rougher impacts are absorbed by the MCU elastomers.
MCU stands for "Microcellular Urethan" which is a cellular polyurethan elastomer interspersed with air bubbles. While compact elastomers only deflect through deformation, an MCU elastomer works like an air suspension: road impacts compress the numerous air bubbles nearly temperature-independently. Thanks to their cellular structure these elements also feature a high amount of self-damping.
Your advantage: good road grip at high speeds and maximum comfort.
All suspension forks possess a progressive suspension behaviour. This means that the spring elements become increasingly harder during compression. Even if you ride with luggage the elastomers work reliably without striking through.
To adjust the forks to your individual needs, suspension preload may be adjusted through an external knob. For special uses there are also spring elements available in different hardnesses.
